Investigators determine cause of Quiet Creek Road fire

Investigators determined an unattended burn pit led to the loss of a Milton residential home and a barn on Quiet Creek Road in a fire incident on Friday.

According to a press release from the Florida Forest Service, investigators stated embers, which escaped from the burn pit, sparked a grass fire. The fire eventually caught onto the home and nearby barn, the Forest service said.

Firefighting crews from Munson, Whiting Field, Skyline, Harold, Berrydale, Allentown and Baker responded to the fire, which was contained at two acres.
