Superintendent Wyrosdick announces re-election bid

Tim Wyrosdick recently announced his intentions to seek re-election as superintendent of schools for Santa Rosa County. Wyrosdick and Milton resident Stewart “Buddy” Powell are the only two to file for the position which will be elected upon during the primary elections in August of 2016.

In a press release from Wyrosdick, the current superintendent said “(t)he next five years will require a solid and stable focus on the changing educational issues which include: growth management, protecting local control of educational policy, providing a rigorous classroom experience and continued development and transition to a digital environment.”

Wyrosdick has served as superintendent of schools after being elected into the position in 2008 and again in 2012. In addition to serving as an educator, coach, assistant principal and principal, Wyrosdick also served as the assistant superintendent for curriculum.

In the press release, Wyrosdick shares why he should be considered for re-election.

“Leading a school district requires an in-depth and thorough knowledge of how a school system works; I have that proven experience,” he said.

Should he be re-elected, Wyrosdick states the school district’s “highest goal will be to provide a highly rigorous and technologically challenging K-12 curriculum that mirrors the needs of our business community in order to prepare our children for a successful future.”

Wyrosdick also wants to continue the school district’s efforts in technology curriculum for students.

“Developing a curriculum that integrates technology into everyday learning opportunities is a must for advancing the skills of our students and preparing them for the world of work,” he said.

Over the past seven years, Wyrosdick said he has overseen nearly $15 million in technology infrastructure.

Wyrosdick wants to continue his work with the school district.

“We have built a very talented leadership corps, an amazing and talented teacher cadre, highly skilled students, and a community of parent support that rivals anyone in the state,” he said.
