Amy Giorgio pleads no contest on aggravated battery of officer, possession

State Attorney Bill Eddins announced that Amy Lee Giorgio pled no contest today to the charges of Aggravated Battery upon a Law Enforcement Officer, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Fleeing and Attempting to Elude, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Accorindg to a press release from State Attorney Bill Eddins' office, Amy Lee Giorgio pled no contest today to the charges of Aggravated Battery upon a Law Enforcement Officer, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Fleeing and Attempting to Elude, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Giorgio also entered pleas in three other separate cases, which include charges of Possession of Controlled Substance, Driving while License Suspended, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.   

On January 5, 2015, Gulf Breeze Police Officer, Sgt. Kerstan Tatro stopped Giorgio due to her erratic driving.  During the traffic stop, Sgt. Tatro asked Giorgio to exit the vehicle.  Giorgio then started the vehicle and drove off as Sgt. Tatro was attempting to grab her keys.  Sgt. Tatro was knocked down by Giorgio’s vehicle and suffered severe injuries to his arm.  Shortly thereafter, Giorgio was taken into custody due to the joint effort of the Pensacola Police Department and Gulf Breeze Police Department.  This episode was captured on Sgt. Tatro dash-cam video. 

Circuit Judge Gary Bergosh scheduled sentencing for August 25, 2015 at 1:00 p.m.  Amy Lee Giorgio faces a possible sentence of up to 50 years in state prison.
