Pensacola Police Department report ten people were injured this morning when a vehicle collided with a bus that was slowing down to let passengers disembark. The crash occurred around 11:25 a.m. on Palafox Street just north of Lloyd Street. Pensacola Police Officer Christopher Forehand said an ECAT bus driven by Wan Coutu, age and address unavailable, was northbound on Palafox at the time. The bus was slowing down to let passengers disembark around Lloyd Street when it was struck from behind by a 2003 Nissan Altima driven by Nickolaos Malamos, 17, of Pensacola.
Reports said Malamos, who was not wearing a seatbelt, didn’t see the bus slow down prior to the crash. Nine bus passengers and Malamos were taken to local hospitals for treatment of minor injuries.
Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
