The Florida Highway Patrol reports a fatal accident Friday morning at 4:27 a.m., happening at State Road 87 and State Road 4. Alcohol may have been an issue, reports said. Robert Allen Spears, 23, Perdido, AL, was traveling north on 87 just north of Highway 4 when his vehicle left the east side of the road. Reports said he traveled down the shoulder and collided with a wire from a utility pole. Contact with the wire caused Spears to rotate clockwise before colliding with a large tree, coming to a final rest. Reports said Spears was not wearing his seatbelt.
