Sunrise Kiwanis speakers discuss Marquis Bayou Bridge

Santa Rosa Sunrise Kiwanis welcomed Mike Beck, FLDOT, Courtney Humbaugh, ABC Group, Heather Baril, FLDOT project engineer, and Mike Sasser FLDOT, to the Wednesday 7 a.m. meeting at Tanglewood Golf Course.  They explained the need to replace Marquis Bayou Bridge, a WPA Bridge built in the early 1930s. The idea proposed is saving some of the "sides" of the historical bridge for later use.  In 2008, upon inspection, the bridge was found to be lacking current DOT standards and the money, approximately seven million dollars, was set aside for replacement.  The new bridge, baring weather delays, will be finished in the summer of 2015. With a traffic count of 23,000 vehicles per day, the new bridge will be one lane each way with a pedestrian path.  Santa Rosa Sunrise Kiwanis welcomes all to their 7a.m. Wednesday breakfast meeting at Tanglewood Golf Course.
