Aug 1 First Friday Dinner Hike, from 6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Vickrey Community Center, 2130 Summit Blvd # B, Pensacola. We will meet in the parking lot on the side where the swimming pool and dog parks are (note that the dog parks are closed, however). Watch for FTA Event signs. Today we will hike part of the LEAP Trail and will walk to and from its beginning point at the Hyatt Place where we will stop for dinner. This will give us a chance to explore this new fitness trail and the newest of our local hotels by the airport. This is a fun, fit, friendly and food activity and we hope you will join us! Aug 17 at Coldwater Creek Paddle, FTA members only paddle – 9 a.m. Meet in the parking lot at the Shell Station/Subway Restaurant in Milton at 5462 Stewart St. (on the corner of Hwy. 87 N. and Hwy. 191 (Munson Hwy.) at 8:45 a.m. and be ready to car caravan to the put-in spot at the bridge at Coldwater Recreation Area in Munson. The Coldwater River has a gentle current and clear, tannin colored water. There are plenty of places to swim & get cooled off. Wide sandbars are at almost every bend to play on. This is an easy river for beginning paddlers. Bring your canoe/kayak, paddle, PFD (Personal Floatation Device), whistle, extra clothing, water shoes, hat, sunglasses, raingear, sunscreen, camera, water, lunch, etc. Well-behaved pets are welcome.
