Scratch Ankle 2014 booth space available for March 14 event

Festival on Willing St. in downtown Milton to be Friday, March 14

The City of Milton is making preparations for the annual Scratch Ankle Festival set for March 14 on North Willing St. from 4 to 9 p.m.

Scratch Ankle, which originated in 1972, is an event where local residents gather for an old-fashioned community festival full of music, games and food. Nonprofit groups setup a variety of homemade games, food and information booths in attempt to raise money and awareness for their organizations.

Not-for-profit groups based in Santa Rosa, Escambia and Okaloosa counties can receive a 10-foot by 10-foot area for a minimal fee. Booth spaces for information or games are $20 without electricity and $25 if electricity is needed. Food and beverage booths cost $30 if electricity is not required and $35 with electricity.

“Last year was the first time in a while that the City of Milton organized the Scratch Ankle festival,” said Linsey Williamson, event coordinator. “We were pleased with the turnout and hope that changing the event to a Friday night will bring in more people!”
