United Way Santa Rosa (UWSR) is making a call for applicants. Anyone who qualifies for help with back rent, back mortgage and utilities can receive help now through the end of the month, said Kyle Holley, director of development, UWSR. “It’s a fast process,” he said. Applicants can be pre-screened by calling Escarosa Coalition on the Homeless. Once that process is completed, said Holley, an appointment will be set with UWSR, a review of bills will be made and the checks will be cut.
Holley said those who qualify are people who live within 200 percent of federal poverty level.
“A family of four within Santa Rosa County with a household income of $3,975 or less per month will qualify,” he said.
“The money is to help the people who work, live and give here. Working class people who need help,” said Guy Thompson, chief executive officer at UWSR. “Anything can happen to families and before they know it, they’re in danger of losing their home. Medical bills can pile up, or they lose their job. This gives us an opportunity to help middle, working class families who need it most,” said Thompson. The number for Escarosa Coalition on the Homeless is 439-3009.
