Milton Chief of Police Greg Brand (left) honored two in his department during Milton City Council meeting Tuesday. He gave an award of special recognition to Katina McDaniels (right) in MPD’s records department and Corporal Mike Cline (middle) for taking on new responsibilities without complaint and starting programs of their own accord. “They were chosen because they’re absolutely go-to kind of people. They take on new tasks with vigor,” said Brand. Cline, Brand said, handled various department activities such as the Click-It or Ticket and railroad crossing programs. Brand also said Gulf Power barred MPD from using its light poles to hold their Speed Spy traffic data collection devices. Cline worked with the Milton Street Department, Brand said, to find existing signs for the devices and create the bracket needed to hold them. McDaniels, Brand said automated two previously manual items for the department and put together intersection diagrams for the officers. This she did of her own accord, Brand said, and has obliterated backlogs since being on staff. “These are not the only good employees on staff but they stand out. They’re humble people, but don’t confuse that with being naïve or unwilling to work.”
