The Lady Royals Varsity Volleyball Team is ready to take the floor for the start of their 2014 volleyball season.
Coach Scott Campbell is excited about the start of their season this Thursday, August 21 in a pre-season tournament to be held at Northview High School. Campbell is starting his sixth year as the coach for the varsity Royals.
Last season’s the Lady Royals finished with a winning season, 13 wins and only nine losses. With only losing three seniors from that squad to graduation Campbell is optimistic about this season. “Our back row defense is one of our greatest strengths on the court,” Campbell added. “We also have some heavy arms serving the ball.”
“The girls seem to really like each other,” Campbell continued. “They work really well together and work very hard.”
The Royals finished their summer practice games with a 10-6 record. As they prepare for the upcoming season Campbell knows where the girls need to work on improving. “We really have to keep the ball in play. We need to make the other team make the mistakes,” he added.
“These girls will do anything I ask them to do,” said Campbell. “That really makes it fun to be their coach.”
With the optimistic attitude and the talent the Lady Royals enter their season anticipating the October district playoffs.
