Update: Infant drowning in Navarre

Update: Thursday, October 9

Santa Rosa County Public Information Officer Rich Aloy said the death of the Navarre infant, from earlier in the week, is believed to be an accident. Reports said it appears the baby crawled through a pet door located in the rear of the home where he ultimately fell into a pool. Aloy said deputies are awaiting the results of an autopsy which can take some time. He said the Medical Examiner's Office will give the final determination as to cause of death. More information will be released as it becomes available.

Rich Aloy, SRSO public information officer said the victim, a 1 1/2 boy, has died from what appears to be an accidental drowning upon preliminary investigation.

Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office reports being on the scene at the 1700 block of Briza del Mar Drive, Navarre. Earlier this morning reports of an infant drowning was dispatched. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Rich Aloy, SRSO public information officer said more information will be released as details become available.
