The Tourist Development Council met on Wednesday and elected a new chairman. Three names including Commissioner Jim Melvin of the SRC Board of Commissioners had been forwarded to the TDC Board from the north and south end advisory committees. Prior to the election, Commissioner Melvin asked for his name to be removed from consideration due to current commitments and demands on his time. This left two names: Jack Sanborn of Adventures Unlimited, and Mike Loera. Following some discussion the board unanimously selected Mike Loera, a bed tax collector from Navarre's Hampton Inn. Milton’s City Clerk DeWitt Nobles, the newest member of the board, said she looks forward to working with Mike and the entire board, as they attempt to increase tourism throughout Santa Rosa County.
