Last Tuesday Milton lay to rest one of its stellar residents, Mr. Ed Peacher. When I first took over Milton Benevolent Cemetery some dozen years ago, it was Mr. Peacher who spearheaded a group to record every grave in the historical burial ground in an effort to restore and update the burial records which did not exist. That not being enough for Mr. Peacher, he drew a plot map of all 27 sections and listed each grave by name and section number. Some time later, Mayor Guy Thompson presented Mr. Peacher with a plaque in appreciation for his labor of love in behalf of the cemetery.
Mrs. Joye Peacher served on the cemetery board for several years.
Milton has lost a great friend but his new abode brings Heaven just that much closer to those whose lives were touched by him. His name will now be inscribed among those whose memory he respected.
Rest in peace, Mr. Ed Peacher.
