Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office reports James Donald McDaniel, 71, Milton was killed this morning around 9:30 a.m.by a lightning strike while he was picking blueberries at Lundy's Blueberry Patch, 8651 Highway 89,Milton. U-Pick shop clerk, Jaime Ellison told SRSO deputies she saw the lightning strike while loading suppies to take to another farm. She said she found McDaniel and started CPR and helped even after EMS arrived on scene. McDaniel was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
