Green Industry – Best Management Practices Training

A Green Industry – BMP training is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 14 from 8:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Santa Rosa County Extension Office at 6263 Dogwood Drive in Milton.

The workshop is designed to provide training in Best Management Practices for anyone working in the lawn, landscape, pest control, or municipal grounds areas.  Registration is $20 and includes lunch!

On June 18, 2009, Florida Governor Charlie Crist signed into law SB 494 requiring all commercial fertilizer applicators have a license by Jan. 1, 2014.

Passing the Green Industries Best Management Practices or GI-BMP training is mandatory to obtain that license.  After receiving a certificate of completion, a person must pay $25 and apply to receive a limited certification for urban landscape commercial fertilizer application.  A person possessing such a certification is not subject to additional local testing.  The certification expires four years after the date of issuance.
