Milton High School’s Trevor Walters competes in Saturday’s wrestling match against Tate High School.

The Milton High School Wrestling team fell to Tate High School last Friday with a final score of 30 to 47.

Milton’s wrestling coach David Bohannon said the team had five victories in the 160 weight class. One of which sophomore Austin Draiss had a pin at 1 minute and 11 seconds.

In the 152 weight class, senior Trevor Walters won with a pin at just 29 seconds.

In the 170 weight class, Milton sophomore Seth Martin had a pin at two minutes and 52 seconds.

In the 285 weight class, sophomore Hunter Hall had a pin at two minutes and 33 seconds.

Freshmen Kyla Kirby won with a pin at one minute and 53 seconds. She defeated a male opponent.

“I am pleased with how they came out (in the first match),” Bohannon said.

Bohannon considered the matchup against Tate to be a learning experience for the wrestling team, which mainly consists of first year members.

Milton’s next wrestling match is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 16 at 6 p.m. at home against Gulf Breeze High School.
