MILTON — The Eighth Annual Bagdad Elementary Art Show will take place 5 to 6:30 p.m. May 10 at the school located at 4512 Forsyth St. in Milton.
Walk through the galleries and experience the ambiance, music and refreshments while viewin multiple art styles highlighting every class at Bagdad Elementary School.
There will be interactive art, a photo booth, a scavenger hunt, young artist activity stations, fluorescent art, 3-dimensional art, live music, refreshments and two events that will be formally judged: Student Masks and Classroom Displays.
The seven judges for the Art Show this year will be: Pastor Robert Warren of the Bagdad United Methodist Church, Santa Rosa School District Risk Manager Pam Smith, SRSD Director of Elementary Schools April Martin, Pea Ridge Elementary School Principal Dana Fleming, W.H. Rhodes Elementary School Art Teacher Toni New, SRSD Assistant Superintendent of Schools Bill Emerson and Oriole Beach Elementary School Principal Joshua McGrew.
The Bagdad Elementary School Art Committee is facilitating the event. Its mission is:
- To foster an atmosphere for self-discovery of the artistic capabilities and the creativity inherent in all people.
- To facilitate an event towards the end of the school year to highlight what all students are capable of with encouragement and direction.
- To expose the entire student population and their families to a taste of art, art history and culture that some might not normally choose to experience.
- To demonstrate that art is not only visual but can appeal to all the senses; visual, auditory, olfactory, tactile and gustatory.
