FHP: Navarre woman killed while attempting to cross U.S. Hwy 98

Navarre resident Lisa D. Wells, 44, died this morning after being struck by a sports utility vehicle along U.S. Hwy. 98.

According to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol, Wells was fatally injured while attempting to cross the westbound lanes of U.S. Hwy. 98 on foot, near Ramblewood Drive.

The release states that Wells failed to yield the right of way to the approaching vehicle traveling in the inside westbound lane along Hwy. 98.

The driver, a Tennessee resident, was taken to Baptist Hospital with minor injuries.

Charges are still pending in the traffic homicide investigation, the release stated.
