Three Rivers Chapter celebrates history of DAR

The October 11th  Three Rivers Chapter, National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), meeting was held on the 124th Anniversary of the first meeting of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Vice Regent Janice Malone presided over the meeting. Refreshments were served by Carolyn McDuffie, Caroline Pepa and Karen Young. The Chapter elected a Nominating Committee consisting of Gail Allred, Rosa Seymour and Jean Fairfield.

Guest speaker was Honorary State Regent Rosa Lee Baxter Seymour. Her presentation was on “History of DAR.” Rosa joined DAR October 1999. She was a member of Fort Pickens Chapter where she was Vice Regent 2001-2002 and Regent 2003-2005. She served as VIS Chairman, yearbook committee, and budget committee for the five years that she was a member of Fort Pickens. In July of 2005, Rosa was asked by the National Society to visit the Milton, Florida area to see if there was enough interest in starting a DAR Chapter there. She served as Vice Regent in 2006 and then served as Regent for three terms 2007-2009, 2010-2011; and 2011-2013. She served as VIS Chairman during those years. She currently serves as Chapter Registrar. Rosa is credited with 119 Member for Member.

She also developed 42 chapter websites bringing Florida Society to be the second State to have all Chapters with websites. She continues to be active in DAR serving on Chapter, State and National committees. Rosa received the National Society’s Volunteer Information Specialist of the Year Award in 2013.
