A Navarre man was arrested Friday, said Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office. Christen Ferril Maddox, 23, was charged for crimes against person-exploitation of elderly less than $20,000, 4 counts of larceny, 4 counts of fraud and failure to appear.
Deputies said an 88 year old woman called the SRSO on Friday regarding a theft. The victim stated on or about August 22 two young males came into her home and asked to use the restroom. The victim estimated their ages to be between the ages of 19-24 years old. The victim and her daughter, who is 70 years old, told deputies they learned there was a $400 check cashed from their account made out to Christen Maddox. They were unaware of the identity of this person. Deputies report the handwriting on the check did not resemble either victim’s signatures provided on another check provided by the bank. Reports said Maddox turned himself in on Friday on an unrelated matter. Reports also said Maddox used the money to purchase drugs to support his habit.
Maddox is currently in the Santa Rosa County Jail and is being held without bond.
