According to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office, Monday, deputies arrested Lisbeth Ann Varnadore, 63 of Jay, for a felony crime against a person, which could have resulted in death. According to the victim's testimony, Varnadore was drinking whiskey and moonshine and had become belligerent. Reports said the victim took Varnadore aside to chastise her for how she was speaking, cursing at everyone. The victim alleges sitting outside drinking tea for about 15 minutes when Varnadore came out a side door and pointed a black 380 hand gun and said, "You're not going to call me a [obscenity] again," according to reports. The victim saw a muzzle flash before blacking out, reports said. The victim suffered a 4" gunshot wound from the front left side of the head to the back, but reports say the victim is in fair condition. One witness confirmed Varnadore had been drinking. Another witness said he wrestled the gun away from her and ran next door after hearing the shot. Deputies arrested the woman without incident and without bond.
