A man and woman from Baker broke into Skateland on Stewart Street in Milton on Thursday and were arrested, says Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office. Reports say around 11:45 p.m. Westley Steiner, 26, and Anastasia Anderson, 20, were working together as Steiner was inside the building and Anderson was driving the get-away car.
Sheriff’s deputies said after responding to an alarm, deputies located a broken door, reports say, with severe damage, leaning inward as if it were kicked. A chain linked fence on the back side of the building, said deputies, had a hole approximately 3 ft. wide and 3 ft. tall cut out. Upon entering the building, reports say deputies spotted a masked man beating a cash box on the back side of an arcade machine, located inside the business. He was chased by deputies through Skateland where the subject threw his backpack but was caught by deputies. The backpack contained a crowbar, gloves, bolt cutters, and a hammer. After being apprehended, Steiner’s phone began to ring and he answered and told Anderson to return to the scene. Reports say a white Volkswagen hatchback pulled out onto Stewart Street from The Office Lounge across the street from Skateland with no taillights. Deputies said from Steiner’s text a message he willingly bestowed, Anderson was trying to let him know law enforcement were on the scene saying, “Heat is on you.” The car stopped and Anderson was apprehended.
Both Steiner and Anderson were charged with burglary of an unoccupied structure unarmed, criminal mischief (over $1,000), possession of burglary tools with intent to use, resisting law enforcement without violence, and molesting a coin machine with the intent to commit larceny. Steiner was given a bond amount of $16,500 and Anderson was given $15,500.
