Santa Rosa Emergency Communications received a call at 9:23 a.m. reporting multiple adults experiencing burning eyes and difficulty breathing while in a training building at T.R. Jackson Pre-K located at 4950 Susan Street in Milton. Eight adults we transported in stable condition to Sacred Heat and Santa Rosa Medical Center. Medical tests results were normal and the patients were released. No children were injured. Due to the location of the building and no hazardous materials found in the initial testing by Milton Fire Department, there were no one ordered evacuations of the school or the surround homes.
Additional tests conducted by Fire & Emergency Services Gulf Coast with the assistance of Escambia County Fire HAZMAT team detected no hazardous materials and the building was deemed safe at approximately 12:45 p.m. The building is being aired out and the scene cleared.
Crews from Milton Fire, NAS Whiting Field, Escambia HAZMAT, Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office, Milton Police Department, Santa Rosa Emergency Management and School District, and Lifeguard Ambulance responded.
