SRSO: Pace man weilds sawed off shot gun, charged with aggravated assault

A Pace man was arrested Sunday when the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office (SRSO) was contacted regarding a family disturbance taking place around 6 p.m. Marcus Dean Bell, 29, was detained by Sheriff deputies, reports said, when the victim reported to authorities he pointed a sawed off shotgun and threatened to shoot the victim. Reports said the victim told deputies there was an argument over the victim’s sunglasses. Deputies said Bell pulled out a sawed off shotgun and threatened the victim and shouted obscenities. Reports said the victim was afraid and crying during the interview. Reports said two witnesses told deputies about hearing an argument but did not see the incident with the gun. SRSO reports deputies were given permission to search the residence and found the shotgun in between a mattress and box springs inside the master bedroom; inside of a water heater closet was found numerous items of drug paraphernalia including a scale, homemade marijuana pipe, and a case with bags containing a small amount of a green leafy substance. Reports said all of the items inside the water heater closet were in plain view. Deputies’ report after Bell was taken to the Santa Rosa County Jail and read Miranda rights, he made a statement to authorities and said he did not own or possess any weapons as he was a convicted felon. Reports said Bell said he got into a verbal argument with the victim about a pair of sunglasses belonging to the victim he did not have. He told deputies the victim beat on his chest and continued to yell at him, and said the victim said “you’re going to jail.”

Bell was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, possession of a weapon, and possession of weapon or ammo by convicted felon. He is being held with $25,000 bond.
