A Beginner’s Guide to Tree Identification

The Mondays in the Gardens free gardening program returns for the 2014 season on Monday, May 19 at 10 a.m. in the WFREC gardens at Pensacola State College, Milton Campus. Follow the signs on campus to find the gardens at the north end of the campus.  Dr. Mack Thetford, University of Florida Associate Professor, will present “A Beginner’s Guide to Tree Identification”. The presentation starts in the outdoor classroom area followed by a walk in the garden to identify trees.  Mondays in the Gardens is a free gardening program being offered at the UF/IFAS West Florida Research and Education Center Gardens under the direction of UF/IFAS Extension Santa Rosa County Master Gardeners.

The Milton Campus of Pensacola State College is home to the UF/IFAS WFREC Gardens.  Follow the signs on campus to find the gardens.  The gardens are free and open to the public from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. every day the campus is open. Both self-guided and guided (during special events) tours are available.  Changing seasonal gardens feature a multitude of horticultural displays including shade, formal, children’s and water gardens, bulbs, roses, shrubs, trees and perennials.
