The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office has released the identities of the four men responsible for attempting to burglarize an ATM in Navarre on Sunday night.
Markett Simpkins, Donald Robinson and Noral Scott of Pensacola and Johnnie Lee of Cantonment are facing multiple charges of criminal mischief and burglary − including possession of burglary tools and impairing a dwelling by disabling phone or power in furtherance of burglary, according to a press release from the sheriff’s office.
The suspects were apprehended by patrol units and SWAT from the Sheriff’s office after the three individuals were observed breaking into the Eglin Federal Credit Union location on U.S. Hwy. 98.
The fourth suspect, a driver waiting outside the building, was apprehended while attempting to flee. The driver’s vehicle rammed an Escambia County vehicle in the process.
The three remaining suspects were surrounded inside the credit union by law enforcement. In the press release, the suspects hid in the roof of the building, one suspect fell through the ceiling tiles to the floor. All suspects were taken into custody without incident.
The sheriff’s office is currently investigating other similar cases and additional charges are expected to follow.
In the press release, the Sheriff’s office stated they have been working with the Pensacola Police Department, Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and the State Attorney’s Office in a multi-jurisdictional operation. The target of the operation was a burglary ring involving the theft of safes and ATM’s.
Each suspect remains in custody Santa Rosa County Jail with a bond set at $256,000.
