Rob Williamson considers being appointed to public office a calling to work with others to solve problems. He also said he considers the election process and his campaign as a job interview with the citizens doing the hiring. He’s seeking the office of Santa Rosa County Commissioner District 4.
“The citizens I’ve met have shared their criteria of what they’re looking for in a county commissioner. They want someone to get results, have new blood, new leadership and someone who’s principled and has faith. Hearing those job requirements, it has given me confidence that I’m what they’re looking for,” said Williamson.
He said he’s the only candidate who’s consistently supported rebuilding the courthouse in downtown Milton because he believes it’s the best site. He also said he’s had the opportunity to serve in more leadership capacity than any other of the five candidates combined.
“There are clear differences of qualifications. I am willing to work with others to solve problems and have the ability to make tough decisions on important issues like the location of the courthouse,” he said.
Williamson said his goal is to help existing small businesses grow and expand and also focus on economic development within the county.
“As a small business owner for 9 years, I know much improvement can be made to become more business friendly,” he said.
“We could have operated our small business anywhere and we chose to live in Navarre. We chose Santa Rosa County. You know your neighbors here. In Santa Rosa County families sit around the dinner table and talk about their day. They go to church on Sunday. It’s okay to say you’re a Christian and have a National Rifle Association membership. In fact, it’s encouraged.
“I believe what’s important to someone is indicated in where they spend their time and money. I spend my time with my family, my faith and my community,” he said.
Williamson said he believes people are frustrated and feel elected officials are not listening. “It’s important to make a positive impact on the community in a meaningful way. It is an awesome responsibility of making decisions on the citizen’s behalf. There are six other people interviewing for this job. The citizens will decide who best represents their values, church, and community,” he said.
