Daniel Hahn is shown receiving the Milton Pride tag holder from Santa Rosa Sunrise Kiwanis President Jack Culberson. Hahn is the Plans Chief and Citizen Corps Coordinator with the Div. of Emergency Management in Santa Rosa County. He explained that when hurricanes come, long term recovery is not the government’s job, it is a community issue. After insurance has been paid, it is the community’s responsibility. Hahn is putting a coalition together to help the community with long term recovery. He explains the coalition is a volunteer workforce divided primarily in two parts. Case Managers working with a disaster survivor as a single point of contact for the survivor’s recovery plan, and Disaster Casework, which is an early intervention plan working with the survivor to meet immediate disaster needs. He explained that now is the time to plan for help after a hurricane. If you would like to volunteer, or if you want to donate to the Disaster Relief Recovery, where 100 percent goes to recovery, call 983-5360 for more information. Santa Rosa Sunrise Kiwanis meets every Wednesday at 7 a.m. at Tanglewood Golf Course where breakfast is served.
