SRSO: Suspect hits pregnant woman with car

Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office (SRSO) reports a Milton woman struck someone with a car and drove away Thursday night and was also charged with larceny in a separate incident in reference to theft of a puppy. Reports said Sara Rebecca Russo, 19, drove into a driveway to drop off clothing and got into an argument with the victim. Reports said Russo threw shoes at the victim through the window and proceeded to back out of the driveway when she placed the car in drive and hit the victim in the stomach, groin and legs. Deputies said the victim was struck by the vehicle’s front left quarter panel and driver’s side headlight. Reports said one other witness and a third party witness signed sworn statements of the same description. Deputies reported dirt and gravel on the victim’s right knee and what appeared to be some dirt on the legs. Reports said the victim said she would be seen at the hospital on her own accord and reported she was pregnant and was spotting.  Also listed was evidence of a ‘rooster tail’ of loose dirt and debris scattered on the driveway. Russo concurred with reports of an argument between herself and the victim, but denied hitting anyone with the car, reports said, and was subsequently charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Additional larceny charges were added in reference to another incident involving Russo Thursday evening. Reports said on Wednesday, October 15, SRSO was dispatched to a Milton residence in reference to a theft. Reports said a 9 week old pit bull was stolen from the residence and the purchase value of the animal being $800. Deputies report the victim gave a detailed description of the animal and provided photographs. Reports said the victim posted photos of the pup on social media and told deputies there were responses of Russo having the pit bull dog. The victim showed deputies photos of Russo holding the animal on social media. Deputies found the pup on the front porch of Russo’s residence but no one was home. Photos were sent electronically to the victim for identification and verification between the victim and deputies. Deputies returned the pup to its rightful owner and Russo was arrested for larceny and bond was set for both charges at $32,500.
