Glen Hill, Santa Rosa County native and business man said he feels strongly about looking out for the best in the entire City of Milton, not just downtown.
I’m focused on small business development to provide jobs within our city, where people will not have to move to other places for a better quality of life, he said.
“We need to keep resources within our city,” said Hill.
Hill is campaigning for Milton City Councilman for Ward III.
Hill believes all leaders within the city and county need to work together for the good of the people and not work separately and against one another. “If you do that, nothing will get done,” he said.
One major issue he is working on is improving the Lucille Johnson Park on Mary Street. He said he’s heading up the effort to revitalize the small park for children who live in the neighborhood. He said in doing so, it will make a positive change for kids who need an outlet close by.
As councilman, Hill said finding housing for students at NAS Whiting Field is an important endeavor for the community to work toward. “There’s no reason these students should live in Pensacola or Pace. Providing housing for them will bring up to $1.2 million per month; realistically about $500,000. We need them to buy their food, water, gas and do their shopping in the city. Each student will bring $1,500 per month to the community and these are conservative numbers,” said Hill.
He said the city needs to add more restaurants, shops, events and family activities to increase city dweller’s quality of life. “I’ve invested my life and savings into Milton. I plan to continue doing so for the rest of my life. We all know what needs to be changed. We also know what needs to be protected within the city,” he said.
Hill said he will engage in activities happening in the city on a regular basis. “I will be about the business of doing,” he said.
“We all need to work together to carry the load. Unity is strong,” he said, “I believe we can be the wealthiest small city in Florida. We allow all of our money to bleed into neighboring communities. If we could harness the dollars and keep them within our city, the possibilities are endless,” he said.
