Speak Out October 4

Monday 7:19 p.m.

Hey, this is Dennis Dean. I’m amazed at how little news coverage there’s been of the woman beheaded by a Muslim in Moore, Oklahoma. Who was the woman? What color was the woman? No family interviews. Has the White House even acknowledged that it happened? When is the funeral? Or has it already happened? Seems weird to me.

Tuesday 4:40 p.m.

Yes, this is Monica from Skyline. I don’t know if you know me or not because I don’t ever buy the paper. All I know is on Dogwood down here by the church near Skyline I have asked very nicely and have called Speak Out and asked a policeman to please come and pull people over. They can sit at this church. Nothing has been done. They’ll go on Stewart Street but they sure won’t go on Highway 90 where the Navy people are. My daughter’s in the Navy. If she can haul butt, she can get a ticket too. Now if something ain’t done, I’ll start going so fast the cars then you can fine me. I’ve asked very nicely and I’m asking again. Why you officers can’t sit out here and start giving some tickets? People are turning in the turning lane and using it for a cross over. People are going 70 and 80 mph and I know this because I’ve been behind them and went their limit. You need to do something. Just do your job please.

Wednesday 4:11 p.m.

Yeah this is Bobby. In Wednesday’s paper, the Speak Out column that was in there that the person didn’t put their name but did a real good imitation of Raymond talking about how bad white people are. He must have only looked in certain places because every country that I can possibly think of that is run by a black person is full of murderers and turmoil and corruption. All these South American countries and Mexico is full of all kind of killings, drug running. The Chinese is run by communists. The Middle East, they’re not white people and they’re the ones killing everybody, cutting off heads, and all that. So I don’t see why he thinks white people are so terrible. He never looks at other people. Thank you.

Wednesday 4:22 p.m.

Interesting article on the courthouse ballot wording. You can vote many ways, but the fact remains you have to make a decision on the tax not knowing where the courthouse will be located. The tax issue will probably fail since most people have a preference for the location of the courthouse and unless they know where their dollars will be spent they will vote no for the tax increase. That is unfortunate since I would rather see all the dollars come from a tax paid by all in the county rather than the funds coming from few as a result of an increase in our property tax. This could happen as it was a funding source discussed in the town hall meetings. This is Ray.

Wednesday 4:24 p.m.

Yeah, this is Bobby. I read two different Speak Outs where they want to tear down old buildings in Milton and four-lane it. We don’t need a super highway through there. I don’t understand why they can’t just build a bridge and have 2 lanes going up Berryhill and cutting back into Highway 90 somewhere around Stewart Street and the other two lanes go eastbound through Milton. It doesn’t look to me like it would be that big of a deal. I don’t see why you’d want to tear down buildings. I don’t see how tearing down buildings and putting a big four-lane through there to have volumes of traffic coming through is going to help downtown Milton like they think it will. It looks to me like Milton will never be a big city. It would be better to have all the antique stuff and like a small village with two-lane roads going through where you can walk around. If you’re in a big hurry, all you have do is go to Bagdad, get on the interstate, go around, and come back down Ward Basin. Thank you.

Wednesday 4:27 p.m.

Yeah, this is Sue. I was calling about the reference to Bob’s complaints about Tim Wyrosdick and the school board doing away with corporal punishment and the man, the lady, or whoever left the message said that the phrase, spare the rod and spoil the child is not in the Bible. She better go back and read Proverbs 13:24. “He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is careful to discipline.” Thank you

Thursday 5:28 a.m.

This is about disciplining a child. When I volunteered at an elementary school in Michigan the principal had a paddle. I know there were eight of us and my daddy sure put it on us and we all turned out better people. In Proverbs 13:24, “He that spares the rod hates his son.” In the Living Bible it says, “Spanking a child helps him learn.” Then there is Proverbs 29:15. This should clear it up for a lot of people. “Yes, we are to discipline our children.” Thank you.
