Suspect Arrested for Air Conditioner Theft

On 10/17/13, the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office received an alarm on Greenbriar Parkway in Gulf Breeze. After the Deputy arrived on scene, he began to investigate the alarm when he observed a suspicious vehicle.

The Deputy observed three males loading an air conditioning system into the SUV. Based on the totality of the circumstances, the Deputy investigated further. A label on the AC unit contained identifying information. The Deputy contacted the manufacturer and was able to determine the unit was recently stolen.

The Deputy continued to investigate and was able to determine the unit belonged to a newly constructed home in Gulf Breeze and was in fact, recently reported stolen. The Deputy contacted the builder of the home and confirmed the AC was the same one which was recently stolen.

Based on the evidence which was obtained by the Deputy, Christopher Didonato (12-15-87) was arrested. He was charged with Burglary, Criminal Mischief, Grand Theft and Dealing in Stolen Property. He was then transported to the Santa Rosa County Jail. Didonato is being held on $11,000.00 bond.
