Bagdad Volunteer Fire Department broke ground on its new fire station off of Garcon Point Road Monday. Chief Nick Anderson says the new station has been in the works for around three years. The firefighters began clearing the lot themselves, around a year-and-a-half ago, using rental machinery. The late Chief Claude Dunlap, Jr. was remembered with his helmet resting atop a golden shovel at the groundbreaking ceremony. The new location is on Winwood Rd., across from the Quikrete company, near the intersection of Garcon Point Road and Da Lisa Road.
