Viva Florida “Unearthing Florida”@ the Gulf Breeze Library – Sept. 3,  6 – 7:30 p.m. Mike Tomlin of the Florida Public Archeology Network, Northwest region, will present, "Unearthing Florida" a presentation about the various archeology projects in Florida and their importance for Florida history and culture Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 6 p.m. This program is the fifth in a series of programs to highlight Viva Florida 500 and Florida’s history and will be held in the Gulf Breeze Library meeting room located at 1060 Shoreline Drive in Gulf Breeze.   Hopeful Hearts Bereavement Support Group @ the Navarre Library – Fridays, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. A series of meetings for "Hopeful Hearts," a bereavement support group, will be held at the Navarre Library on Fridays from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. from Aug. 23 through Oct. 11. The weekly sessions will address grief support following an educational outline and offer assistance, love and listening ears to those grieving over the loss of a loved one. The meetings will be facilitated by Jennifer Gilbert, MSW of Emerald Coast Hospice. All materials will be provided, refreshments will be served, and no reservation is required. There is no charge to participate. The program will be held in the Navarre Library Meeting Room, located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd. in Navarre.   Beginner Drawing Classes @ the Pace Library – Fridays, Sept. 6 – Oct. 4, 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. A series of beginner drawing classes for ages 10 – 19 will be held at the Pace Library, located at 4750 Pace Patriot Blvd. in Pace on Fridays starting at 3:30 p.m. from Sept. 6  to Oct. 4.  Develop artistic skills you never knew you had!  Even if you’ve never drawn a line, these classes are designed for success.  If you love to draw, you may discover new skills and techniques.  These classes are fun, easy, rewarding and free.  All supplies will be provided.  You are encouraged to attend all five classes.  Sign up at the Pace Library, or call (850) 981-READ (7323) to reserve your space.   Tablet / E-Reader Workshop @ the Milton Library – Sept. 7, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Do you own a new tablet or e-reader? Are you confused about what your digital device can do or how to use it? If so, this workshop is for you. You may bring any tablet/E-Reader device (I-Pad, Nook, Kindle, etc.) to the Milton Library located at 5541 Alabama St. to obtain assistance at this workshop. See a staff member for details. Beginners and seasoned researchers are invited to use these services. To ensure a volunteer is available to assist you, please call (850) 981-READ (7323) before you visit.   Brown Bag Lunch @ the Navarre Library – Sept. 18, Noon – 1 p.m. Master Gardner, Norene Gideon, will present the September Brown Bag  program on winter vegetable gardening. She’s sure to offer valuable tips and tidbits to all in attendance. Future fall programs will be presented by other Master Gardeners and will address “Gardening for Snowbirds” and “Pruning”. You bring a lunch and drink, and we’ll provide an exciting presentation. The program is held is held the third Wednesday of each month at noon at the Navarre Library located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd. in Navarre.   Viva Florida 500 Time Capsule Sealing Ceremony – Sept. 19, 2 -3 p.m. The Santa Rosa County Time Capsule Sealing Ceremony will be held Thursday, Sept. 19 from 2-3 p.m. at the Jay Historical Museum, located at 3946 Highway 4 in Jay. Members of each community voted to decide which items should be placed in the capsule to represent what future generations should know about our county.  The following items were chosen to be placed in the capsule: §  Gulf Breeze: menus from area restaurants, book about Gulf Breeze §  Jay: cotton boll, metered mail §  Milton: county seal, canoe §  Navarre: turtle, butterfly, beach sand §  Pace: Pace Patriot patch, brochures about businesses and cultural activities in Pace §  In addition, the library system will include a library card and a thumb drive with various images from around the county. The time capsule will remain on display at the Jay Historical Museum until it is scheduled to be opened in 50 years. This is the sixth and final event scheduled to celebrate Viva Florida 500.  Learn more about Viva Florida 500 by visiting www.vivaflorida.org.   Hospice Hour @ the Navarre Library – Sept. 25, 3:30-4:30 p.m. On Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Diana Skinner R.N., BSN, of Emerald Coast Hospice, will explain how hospice services work, what types of services are provided, and when hospice services might be beneficial. The program will be held in the Navarre Library Meeting Room, located at 8484 James M.
