State Attorney Bill Eddins announced today that Tabitha Joy Lewis was sentenced by Judge David Rimmer to 10 years state prison to be followed by 3 years of probation. Lewis was convicted by a Santa Rosa County Jury on August 29, of burglary of a dwelling with assault, assault, criminal mischief, and violation of a domestic violence injunction.
Tabitha Lewis, of Pensacola, was arrested on July 19, 2012 after she broke into her estranged husband’s home in Pace. When the victim arrived home from work he found Lewis waiting for him in the house armed with a taser and a pellet gun. When the victim tried to call law enforcement, Lewis attempted to use the taser on him. He was able to escape and contacted 911. Deputies arrived and found Lewis in the house where she had been subdued by the victim. Officers discovered a broken bedroom window where Lewis had entered the home. They also found the taser and pellet gun, which were collected as evidence.
In June 2013, Tabitha Lewis was also convicted of forgery by a Santa Rosa County Jury. That charge came after Lewis forged the electronic signature of Circuit Judge John Miller on a document. Judge David Rimmer sentenced Lewis today on this charge to 5 years state prison to run concurrent to the previous sentence.
Lewis still has one pending case before Judge Rimmer for the charges of burglary of an occupied dwelling and violation of a domestic violence injunction. This case is scheduled for jury selection on October 7.
The case was investigated by the Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office. Assistant State Attorney Joshua Loren prosecuted the case for the State of Florida
