Valderama dies in Hwy. 87 crash

A Milton woman was killed Saturday in a vehicle crash on Hwy. 87 and Firehouse Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Lilia R. Valderama, 76, Milton died at Sacred Heart Hospital from injuries she received in the accident. The driver of the car in which she was riding, Herminio Reyllo Valderama, 76, received minor injures, but was not transported.

The accident happened around 6:30 p.m. when the 1998 Chevrolet Tracker driven by Valderama made a turn at Firehouse Road, cutting off a 2006 Kia Optima driven by Destiny Elisabeth Gregg, 24, Milton, according to the FHP.

The driver of the Optima could not stop the vehicle and continued to travel south on Hwy. 87.  Gregg's vehicle struck the Tracker in the right side with its front.

Valderama's vehicle rotated clockwise and went onto the west shoulder of Hwy. 87 and hit a street sign with the rear end of the vehicle.

The Optima went to the right and drove on the sidewalk on the west side of Hwy. 87. It hit a utility pole guide wire with the front of the car.

The passenger in Gregg's car, Ryan Anthony Bush, 25, Milton, and Gregg received minor injuries. Both were transported to Sacred Heart Hospital.

Charges are pending investigation.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the accident. All parties involved were wearing seatbelts, according to the FHP.
