Decker arrested, charged with multiple counts of dui and hit and run

A Milton woman was arrested, charged with several traffic crimes including two counts of DUI and two counts of hit and run, according to the Florida Highway Patrol, after she ran into the back of another vehicle at Avalon Blvd. and Hwy 90 and then fled the scene Monday night.

Trooper Josh Tucker's report says Tammy Juanice Decker, 41, admitted she fled because she was driving on a suspended license from a 2012 DUI charge. Witnesses told Tucker they saw Decker's vehicle hit another and then flee eastbound on Hwy. 90. Two people followed the woman, according to reports, until she reached the Emerald Sands Inn – less than a mile from the accident site. The witnesses called police and told Milton Police dispatchers they were following the woman who caused the crash, according to reports.

When Decker arrived at the Emerald Sands Inn, FHP reports say the security guard approached her for driving fast in the parking lot. When Milton Police arrived, Officer R. Holley found Decker on the second floor of the hotel and told her to come down, reports say. He detained her for Tucker, who arrived from the scene of the crash to take her into custody, according to FHP.

Tucker says Decker was arrested and charged with two counts of DUI – one for property damage and one for causing an injury; two counts of fleeing the scene without rendering assistance or leaving her information – one with property damage and one with physical injury; careless driving; expired tag; failure to provide insurance in a crash; and failure to submit to a intoxilyzer breath test. He noted this was her second refusal, the other occurred in October 2012.

One man received an injury to the shoulder in the accident, reports say. Decker was not injured.
