MILTON — Here's a look at upcoming events in Santa Rosa County and surrounding areas.

Spring into Love pet adoption event

PENSACOLA — Pensacola-area animal rescue organizations are in final preparations for their first Spring into Love pet adoption event to be held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 21 at the Pensacola Interstate Fairgrounds, 6655 Mobile Highway. From cats and dogs to mini pigs, as well as a variety of other domesticated pets, there will be hundreds of animal in need of loving forever homes.

Grillin' in the Breeze benefits SRC education

GULF BREEZE —Join the Santa Rosa Education Foundation from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Shoreline Park in Gulf Breeze for Grillin’ in the Breeze. Taste grilled and smoked delicacies. Cast your vote for the People’s Choice award, and bid on terrific silent auction items throughout the day. 

The Navarre Beach Marine Science Station’s Discovery Depot and Pensacola Mess Hall will be on-site with activities for all ages. Chef Bob Solarski will also be serving a special menu in the VIP Tent. VIP space is limited, so get tickets soon at www.grillininthebreeze.com. 

All proceeds support education in Santa Rosa County. General admission is $10 in advance, $12 day of event and VIP Tickets are $35 in advance, $40 day of event.

Mondays in the gardens 

MILTON — Amaryllis will be the topic of the 10 a.m. April 23 "Mondays in the Gardens" series at the Pensacola State College/University of Florida Milton campus, 5988 Highway 90 in Milton. 

Florida Master Gardener Sally Menk will lead the one-hour presentation in room 4814 in the 4800 building at the back or north end of the campus. This educational session will include how to select and grow amaryllis in your landscape as well as a tour of blooming amaryllis in the garden, weather permitting.

Pace Chamber Golf Classic

PACE — The 19th annual Pace Chamber Tom Stewart Golf Classic will take place at noon April 27 at Stonebrook Golf Course, 3200 Cobblestone Drive.

Event to benefit women in need of healthcare

PENSACOLA — A day designed by women for women ages 55-plus will become an opportunity to provide healthcare for women in need. The "Educate, Enlighten, Empower" women-only event will take place 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. April 28 at the Sacred Heart Hospital Conference Center on Ninth Avenue in Pensacola.

The fifth annual symposium is being sponsored by Mainstay Financial Group in partnership with Sacred Heart Senior Services. Proceeds from the event will go to Sacred Heart Foundation to help provide healthcare for women in need.

Faith in Action

PACE — Woodbine Church’s annual Faith in Action Sunday will be April 29. Each year members of the church go out into the Santa Rosa County community to work on projects for those who are unable to do them for themselves. The church holds the community service event in place of its regular Sunday services.

Marine Corps League Car Show

MILTON — The Marine Corps League Car/Vehicle Show will take place April 28 at Pensacola’s Five Flags Speedway, 7451 Pine Forest Road.

The League has expanded the show this year, which helps veterans in need.

Brake Family Reunion

HOLT — The Brake Family Reunion will take place 11 a.m. April 28 at the Pleasant Home Baptist Church fellowship hall, 8500 Pleasant Home Church Road in Holt. Bring a covered dish. Contact Leeque McCombs at 957-4082 for more information.

Japanese Children's Day Celebration

GULF BREEZE — Children’s Day Celebration will take place 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 26 at Saint Sylvester Catholic Church, 6464 Gulf Breeze Parkway in Gulf Breeze. This is free community event. This event provides children a variety of Japanese cultural activities including a yo-yo catching game, origami, face paint, a calligraphy contest, mochi (sticky rice) sampling, Okinawa taiko and Karate performance, etc. There will be food vendors offering various Japanese dishes.
