We wanted to take a moment and thank you, our readers, for your support of this newspaper and your contributions to its content. We depend on you to help us make it what we all need it to be. Whether it comes from a club that wants publicity; or someone emailing or calling to let us know about a potential story, we value what you have to share.
Over the past year, the involvement from the community has grown. We are receiving more letters to the editor; submissions for publication; and comments on our website. Facebook has grown to more than 4,600 likes – almost double what it was last year at this time.
We feel a kinship with you and it grows stronger when you contact us and/or comment on our stories. Most of the time, we realize those comments are not directed at us, but rather at a situation or even at times, a person. But it still reflects on our work and how we communicate with you.
Santa Rosa is a wonderful community in which to live. We have our share of problems like any community, but there are well-meaning people here who work hard to make things better. Sometimes it seems like all we report is bad news. We are looking for the good news too and want to remind you to send it in to us.
We aim to increase our school coverage this school year so if you are an educator with an announcement; or a principal who has something going on, let us know about it at: news@srpressgazette.com. Public or private school – we want to hear from you. By the way, we can't be everywhere at once, so if you are in a position to snap some photos and send them in with a little information about what is going on at your school, we are happy to publish it for you. If you are a parent on a field trip or in a classroom, we would like to share your photos as well.
Don't forget about baby of the week, pet of the week, and adoptable pets.
