One dead in car accident on Highway 87

UPDATE: Lifeguard Ambulance has left the scene, running emergency to Sacred Heart Hospital at this time (10:03 p.m.) with one patient on board. The patient is a 48-year-male. Unconscious, unresponsive, not wearing seatbelt at time of crash, according to traffic on emergency scanner.

POSTED EARLIER: One person is dead at a single vehicle accident on Highway 87 north of Langley near NAS Whiting Field, north of Milton.

Skyline Fire Department is on scene with other fire departments and Lifeguard Ambulance.

Two people were trapped inside the vehicle following the crash, which occurred at approximately 9:20 p.m. The car was engulfed in flames. Citizens were on scene immediately trying to fight the fire and rescue the people trapped inside.

The fire was extinguished with two people still inside vehicle.

Extrication began at approximately 9:36 p.m.  One passenger was deceased.  At  9:46 p.m., the extrication was complete. The driver is listed as a trauma alert.
