Santa Rosa County and the Nature Conservatory will host a Pensacola Bay Watershed Workshop for stakeholders including representatives from government and environmental organizations from Santa Rosa, Escambia and Okaloosa counties on Thursday, Oct. 31 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the UF/IFAS Santa Rosa County Extension Office, located at 6263 Dogwood Drive in Milton. The goals, criteria and projects discussed are focused on the Gulf Restoration Strategy, Florida Consortium and the RESTORE Act. The public is welcome to attend.
The third in a series of workshops, the group is working together to create a unified vision for the Pensacola Bay watershed by identifying and prioritizing a projects that solve the most pressing environmental issues affecting the watershed. A watershed is an area where all surface waters drain to a single common place. A number of rivers and creeks in west Florida and south-central Alabama flow into this single place, the Pensacola Bay, making a regional effort vital when discussing successful solutions to watershed issues.
