PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Southeastern Teen Shakespeare Company (SetsCo) will hold auditions for their 2013-2014 season September 4 & 5 at the Pensacola Opera Center. Auditions will begin promptly at 4:30pm both days. Actors ages 13-19 are eligible to audition for acceptance into the company, which is a one-year commitment that begins in September and ends in August 2014. Those auditioning do not need to come to both days of auditions.
Applications for the Company are available through www.setsco.org. Auditions will consist of a warm up, improvisation, a cold read, and the performance of a prepared monologue. Students are encouraged to choose a monologue early. Members of the audition panel expect that all monologues will be solidly memorized and fully prepared. There is a list of monologues to choose from on the application.
Throughout the year, Company members will participate in monthly workshops and perform at events such as the Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival, the Mobile and Pensacola Renaissance Faires, and Festival on the Green. At the beginning of each summer, SetsCo produces one of Shakespeare’s plays. This past June, they put on Macbeth.
The Southeastern Teen Shakespeare Company is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation dedicated to providing teens in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties with instruction and performance opportunities that lead to their significant growth as artists and community members.
