Milton Garden Club annual soup and salad event Jan. 18 The Dogwood Circle 21st annual Soup & Salad is Friday, Jan. 18, at 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at 5256 Alabama St. Milton. The garden club circle has held this event for 21 years. This year there will be potato cheese, chili, chicken tortilla and vegetarian vegetable. Accompanying the soup are a crisp salad, beverage and homemade desserts including some sugar free desserts. There will also be door prize. Vegetable Producers Round Up is Jan. 15 The Vegetable Producers Round Up is Tuesday, Jan. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Jay Community Center at 5259 Booker Lane in Jay. The event features training topics for producers on marketing strategies, new pest management techniques and the latest in food safety. Admission is free and includes lunch. The event program includes speaker Sean McCoy, extension agent at the UF/IFAS Suwannee Valley Agricultural Extension Center, who will discuss marketing strategies followed by a question and answer session with a panel of fresh produce buyers and distributors from Northwest Florida. Attendees will also have an opportunity to see a demonstration on laying plastic mulch mechanically and preview an example of a homemade packing cooler trailer at this training event. Kaps 4 Kids fundraiser Take a casual day and help the families of critically ill and injured children by signing up for Ronald McDonald House’s annual Kaps 4 Kids fundraiser. This event will account for nearly 20 percent of the annual budget. Last year, nearly 7,000 employees from more than 500 businesses, schools and government offices participated by purchasing K4K items and wearing them proudly on K4K day to show support for the House. Kaps 4 Kids kicks off in January and February with informational meetings. Team fundraising events and sales of T-shirts, tote bags, ball caps and visors continue until Kaps 4 Kids day on April 5. Classes and Junior Youth Empowerment Program Every other Monday from 3:30-5 p.m., there will be Children’s Classes for first through third grades and a Junior Youth Empowerment Program for youth from 11-14 years at the public meeting room at the Milton Library. Children and youth of all races, religions and social backgrounds are welcome to attend. Parents may register their children and participate during the Children’s Classes. Youth must also be registered, but parents are asked to enjoy the use of the library until the end of the class. Activities will consist of memorization, quotations, stories, games, coloring and more. There is no charge for these classes sponsored by the Baha’is of Santa Rosa County. Teen Talent Takeover This is your chance to show-off your talent singing, dancing, modeling or whatever your talent is — this is your moment to shine. There will be a $300 cash prize for the first place talent show contestant winner. Teen models will walk the runwar wearing the latest fashions.
