The Pensacola Ice Flyers are pleased to announce their new head coach will be Rod Aldoff. Aldoff becomes the third head coach in franchise history and joins the Ice Flyers organization after a very successful three year stint as the head coach/general manager of the Wisconsin/Minnesota Wilderness in the Superior International Junior Hockey League (SIJHL). "We're extremely excited to add Rod to the Ice Flyers organization," owner Greg Harris commented. "I feel very confident once again that we have the right coach and right person to lead our team. He definitely fits the culture of the Ice Flyers organization." The Wilderness were only established three seasons ago and in that time the 42-year-old native of Lethbridge, Alberta coached his team to three straight SIJHL championships. In 2013, he led the Wilderness to Dudley Hewitt Cup, the Central Canada Junior A championship. They then went on to play for the RBC Cup, Canada's national Junior A championship. Aldoff's teams have a combined record of 145-15-8 and have held a Top 20 ranking in the Canadian Junior Hockey League national rankings every week, except for one, since the team's inception. "The fact that he started coaching without a single player and then developed a team with a winning percentage near 90% in three seasons is a true testament to his ability as a recruiter, motivator and coach," Harris commented. As a player, Aldoff played 15 professional seasons with teams in Europe and North America, including a stint with the Pensacola Ice Pilots. He also won the 2009 International Hockey League (IHL) Turner Cup championship with the Fort Wayne Komets, and was a player/assistant coach on three different occasions throughout his career. "His recruiting roots run extremely deep and his multiple connections at the AA level, NCAA Division I and Division III will attract high-end recruits. Rod's ability to win as a player and more importantly as a coach will help us reach the SPHL finals for the third straight season and repeat as SPHL champions. ### For season ticket information and other information about the Pensacola Ice Flyers, visit www.PensacolaIceFlyers.com or call (850) 466-3111.
