Local residents named to Harding University dean’s list The following residents are among more than 1,000 Harding University students included on the dean’s list for grades achieved during the fall semester.

The dean’s list is published each semester by Larry Long, university provost, honoring those who have achieved high scholarship. To be eligible, a student must be carrying 12 or more hours with a 3.65 or higher grade-point average and no incompletes.

Santa Rosa Tea Party patriots to meet The first meeting of the New Year for The Santa Rosa Tea Party Patriots will be Monday, Jan. 14, at 6 p.m. at the Pace Community Center at the Pace Ball Park, less than a mile on Chumuckla Hwy. north of Berryhill Road. Turn into the second drive. The meeting will be in the brick building. This is a location change from our regular meeting place, so please make note. Sheriff Wendell Hall will speak on our Second Amendment rights because of so much happening across this country regarding gun rights. Bring your concerns for a question and answer period in the program. The public is invited to attend this informative meeting. If you have any questions, call 994-7548. Remember this is a new meeting place. Japan-America Society hosting celebration Come join us for the Japan-America Society of Northwest Florida Inc. 2013 Japanese New Year Celebration Saturday, Jan. 19, from noon–4 p.m. at Bayview Community Center on 2000 E. Lloyd St. in Pensacola off 17th St. north of Cervantes. Activities will be Japanese dancers, Japanese food, Taiko drumming, door prizes and a silent auction. Tickets for the event can be purchased at the door for $15 for a family of four or more, $8 for general public or $6 for students and Japan-America Society Members. Pace Chamber  monthly breakfast The Pace Area Chamber of Commerce is having its Monthly Breakfast on Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Oops Alley at 7:30 a.m. This month’s breakfast is sponsored by Underwood Anderson & Associates Inc., and Manna Food Pantry will present our program. The cost of breakfast is $6 per person. There has been great attendance at these events and invite you to take advantage of these networking opportunities by being part of the breakfast crowd.
