MILTON — A popular central Santa Rosa County park is getting a makeover. Optimist Park, located at 6244 Old Bagdad Highway in Milton, is closed for renovations through mid-August. The new Optimist Inclusive Park will consist of an all-inclusive playground for children.

Park enhancements will also include a paved parking, an Americans with Disabilities Act-friendly interconnecting sidewalk system and resurfacing of the walking track through the large 17.8-acre park. An ADA compliant restroom upgrade will be funded during or shortly after the project is completed.

"We are excited to offer another new ADA recreational facility for residents and their children to enjoy our beautiful outdoors," Commission Chairman Bob Cole said. "Many thanks to the citizens of Santa Rosa County who supported the local option sales tax and made this project possible."

Funding for the new park will come from local option sales tax recreational and ADA funds as well as District 2 recreational funds. For more information on LOST projects, visit www.santarosa.fl.gov/capitalprojects.
