Just want to remind everybody in Santa Rosa County that Wednesday (was) our day to remember our relgious freedoms, Religious Freedoms Day it was dubbed that years ago. I wonder if any of tour students in the classrooms in santa rsoa county will be studying that and if any of our teachers will be able to celebrate their religious freedoms in the schools as well. Tuesday, 10:37 a.m. Yes, this is Bill. I read in here the county and Milton is wasting some more taxpayers’ dollars doing another study on the riverfornt area and the courthouse. How many more studies are they gonna do? What they should do is figure out how to four-lane Highway 90 through Milton first. It doesn’t make any sense to do a riverfront study without first the intersection and the roadway being done. That should be done first before anymore new buildings be put up there. Thank you. Bye.
Tuesday, 2:50 p.m. This is Bob. I was reading an article in the paper about certain things downtown don’t meet Milton’s new image? I’d like the Press Gazette to go talk to the city and ask what is their new image? Because you drive around town and see stores have got thigns put on their front porch and in the parking lots. Is that their new image? Or is this downtown just political? Thank you.
Tuesday, 2:52 p.m. Hi, my name is Jennifer, and I’m calling on behalf of my family regarding the death of our cat Allie. She was killed in front of our home on Friday, Jan. 11, midmorning. Allie was a beautiful orange cat and roughly 16 months old. She was origainlly a stray who picked our family to take care of her. What good fortune for us, never having owned a cat. She was doted on and loved immensely for the 13 months we had her. I am hoping that the person who hit her will read this and reach out to my family, who is hurting. I do not seek retribution or reimbursement, only a response. Thank you.
Wednesday, 10:54 a.m. Yes, this is Joe. I see the county commission has just made another enormous, incompetent decision to purchase the Navarre Bridge. Now they are responsible for $3 million in lead paint removal. All they got from the state was $4 million to maintain a 50-year-old bridge. They can’t even manage fixing our roads over here. They can’t even patch the potholes. I don’t know how they think they can maintain a 50-year-old bridge. Thank you.
Wednesday, 10:23 p.m. Yeah, this is Ron. I’m calling about that story in the paper today about the kids at the skate park. They need to wear their helmets all the time. They put those rules in there so they protect the kids, and the city needs to have some protection in there in case somebody gets hurt. So if you don’t want to wear your helmet, don’t go skating at the park. Stay home. That’s all there is to it. Do what you’re supposed to do. Thank you.
Thursday, 8:22 a.m. Yeah, this is for the guy, the president of the hunting club that killed the dog. It’s a question, I guess. Why is he being charged with a misdemeanor and not a felony? He committed a crime with a gun. He shouldn’t be the president of the hunting club to start with, and you can’t do that. People aren’t supposed to be allowed to do that. He took the law into his own hands. Thank you very much. EDITOR’S NOTE: The State Attorney's Office dropped the charge to a misdemeanor after they determined the dog was already dead when it was tied to the vehicle and dragged. Whether or not it is a felony depends on the animal's suffering. Officials say the dog died right away and did not suffer when it was dragged.
