Speak Out

Sunday 6:27 p.m.

Hi.  Concerning the Whiting Field back gate closing.  Is the government so broke that it can't keep a main access gate open a few extra hours per day?  Problem is that swing and grave shifts are shut out coming and going to work.  We work hard in the heat, cold and rain keeping the helicopters and planes ready for safe flight.  Many of us drive from far away and driving an extra thirty minutes per day costs us quality time and fuel costs.  Why does the working man have to pay the price for the government's budget problems? Please help by speaking up to keep the back gate open by calling Navy security 623-7835.

This is Barbara.  I'm a senior citizen and I've taken the Press Gazette for many years. I've always thoroughly enjoyed it but every once in a while you need to rethink some things.  My thing is that the pictures and stories. You should have more than one person checking things.  Like the one time you had the woman on a motorcycle sucking on a cigarette?   Well, the picture the other day was talking about world hunger and the picture you showed was a woman who was six hundred pounds plus?  It didn't go with the story.  I can't imagine even giving my permission to have my picture in the paper. That's just my thoughts.

Hello this is Marianne again on President Obama. First let me say, he's not my all time favorite president. I hate abortion and the very word alone should bring a touch of horror to our hearts.  And gay marriage? Oh my heavens, that is a letter for another day but he has done a few things.  He ended the war in Iraq, we're almost out of Afghanistan. He practiced restraint regarding Syria. For the time being, we've been without military intervention.  He kept pressure on Osama bin Laden until he was brought down. He instituted economic measures to keep our country out of a deep recession during an economic crisis. He kept jobs and lowered the national debt.  I have heard him say two times he's' a Christian and say he believes Jesus Christ died on the cross for their sins.  I am a Christian.  I believe when he said he thought people could keep their insurance, he wasn't lying.  He did not think they would loose it.

This is Lena. They did a good job resurfacing Glover Lane but I was surprised to see they didn't put the white line on the edge of the road because there is no shoulder there. I was wondering who I could call to find out about that.  Thank you.
