The fifth and final October weekend of the 9th Annual Beaches to Woodlands Tour of Santa Rosa County features plenty of fun-family spooky fun. “From activities for the little ones to haunted fun for bigger kids and adults, Santa Rosa County has a little something for everyone,” said Karen Harrell, Beaches to Woodlands Tour Coordinator. In addition to their regular activities two area farm participants offer Haunted Hayrides. Holland Farms will feature the “Haunted Hayrides through the Holland Woods” from 7 – 9 p.m. Oct. 26 and 27. The Whispering Pines Christmas Tree Farm features haunted hay rides down a dirt road filled with zombies and werewolves Oct. 25, 27 and 31. The hay rides include bonfires, outdoor theatre, Wii dancing and a trunk or treat on Halloween day. Also, the Dixon Haystackular continues with its hay maze and other activities but will transform to the “Spooktakular” on Saturday, Oct.27 for over age 13 participants. Before that there will be a “Zombie Run” at 4:30 p.m. sponsored by the Pace High School Band Boosters. The Navarre Beach Marine Science Station has added “Spooktacular Science by the Sea” from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. Oct. 27 with Halloween activities including making glow-in-the-dark slime, haunted flashlight tour, trick or treat themed station, edible eyeballs and crazy pumpkins. Admission is $5 for anyone over age 2. Also on Oct. 27, The Sweet Season Farms Corn Maze will have its annual Trick or Treat day starting at 9 a.m. with a costume contest at 2 p.m. along with its regular maze fun, farm toys play, pony rides and more. The always popular Downtown Milton Haunted House and the Ghost of Milton Walking Tour will be staged Oct. 26-27 this year. Designed for younger children is the Gulf Breeze Zoo’s annual “Boo at the Zoo” continues Oct. 27-28 with a Trick or Treat Trail and themed activities including a “Creepy Crawly Critter Station”, “Monster Foam Station”, Halloween Maze and more. In addition to the Halloween-themed events, there is the Bagdad Plein Air Paint Out Oct. 27 in the Village of Bagdad. Visitors are welcome to view artists at work as they paint different historic structures and vistas of their choice. The finished products will later be displayed at the Dragonfly Gallery in downtown Milton. Not to be forgotten is one of the tour’s most delicious annual events Oct. 27, the “Taste of Navarre” which is sponsored by the Navarre Beach Chamber of Commerce. Also, the Arcadia Mill “Secrets of Santa Rosa Archeology & History in Your Own Backyard” weekly lecture is presented Oct. 27 by Dr. Richard Lewis from the Bagdad Village Preservation Association on “Slavery and Women” in America. The Holley Hill Pottery and Art Studio will sponsor an Open House Oct. 27 and the owners and potters will be on hand to talk about their original work and the process they use utilizing the region’s only wood-fired anagama kiln. “The tour again delivered on its promise to bring people to all four corners of Santa Rosa County,” Harrell said. “We truly have some of the most beautiful scenery, interesting events and natural attractions in Florida. Next year we mark our 10th anniversary and we already making big celebration plans!”
